Italy: Here's your quick list of Italian strikes.
Public transportation alike.  Air Traffic Controllers, pilots, trains, buses on strike.  Taxi's will be slim. To make matters worse they have arranged them to co-inside with Italian public holidays. Good for natives, but misery for travelers.  Be prepared to be stranded.  Book hotel for just incase and cancel when timely.  Put number in cell phone.  Sharpen elbows and call the person who sold you the ticket, it's just possible your mode of transportation won't be on strike.  Look on the bright side of life. The list is changing all the time, hard to keep legitimate information coming in.













Tuesday, 6, July, 2010, Airport ground handlers strike, 12-4pm. Italian ferry company, Tirrenia ferries, Siremar, Toremar, will strike for 48 hours starting, Tuesday, 6, July, 4pm till Thursday, 8, July, 4pm.

Wednesday, 7, July, 2010 Tirrenia ferry strike continues. Unions striking against US base in Naples, 24 hours, base will operate as normal. Access maybe impeded, protestors at gate.

Thursday, 8, July, 2010 Italian rail transport, Trenitalia strike, 24 hours, starting 9pm. You may find petrol stations closed.,

Friday, 9, July, Local public transport staff, buses, 24 hrs. Cities set own times to strike.
Padova airport strike 12-4pm. Italian National rail strike, 9-5pm.

Monday, 19, July, Meridianafly four hours 12-4pm. 

Tuesday, 20, July, 2010 Pilots and flight attendants for Alitalia will strike for 24 hours. Expect disruptions at Milan airports, Linate and Malpensa by airport workers.

Rome Airport strike, (yes this is correct) Thursday, 9, September, 2010 12-4pm

2, May, Theatre's throughout Italy on strike, including the famous Scala opera house.

Bologna, public transportation strike Thursday, 13, May. 9:30-2:30pm. No services guaranteed. Marconi Airport 14, May, luggage handlers, 10am-6pm.

14, May Italian strikes cancelled due to volcano.
1, May, 2010 Air One and Alitalia strike. Strike has been postponed till 14, May, 2010. Also postponed is the luggage handlers strike for the same time. 10am-6pm

25, May, Fiumicino Airport, Rome. 12-4pm Italian aviation authority ENAC, air traffic controllers.

Italian rail strike for 23, April was cancelled, new strike now planned for 9pm, Thursday, May 27, 2010, 24 hours till Friday, 28, May, 9pm. All rail transportation, Trenitalia, workers and bus services,  local public transport companies. Minimum essential services are guaranteed. Looks like being a big one. You never know, may still get cancelled.

Monday, 3, May, 2010 Alitalia and Air One, 24 hour strike by pilots and cabin crew.  Same day baggage handlers will strike from 12-4pm. Effecting all airports in Italy.

5, May, 2010 Tirrenia ferry strike, 24 hours. cancelled.

Friday, 14, May, 2010 Nationwide baggage handlers again (give them a contract, why don't you!) 10am to 6pm. 

3/30/2010  Alitalia pilots and flight attendants, 24 hours, Monday, 3, May, 2010.

3/27/10 Friday, April, 16, 2010 all Italian airports baggage handlers on strike for 24 hours. Workers have been working without a contract for two years. Make life easier for yourself, change flight now before everyone else. Unions who proclaimed strike are FILT, CGIL, FIT CISL, Uiltrasporti. It is hard trying to catch and translate these strikes. As fast as they are called it seems they never happen. Trying to keep track of times is another thing altogether. Which is done on purpose.  2009 Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is attempting to change Italian strike laws.
