16 April, 2009 Thursday, Air Berlin, Europe's third largest discount airline pilots union Vereinigung Cockpit voted in favor of strike for higher pay.  No dates set.

March, 09  Pilot union Cockpit members voted by a 98.7 percent majority to strike.

February, 09 Negotiations between LTU pilots and employers  suspended.  Both sides locked.

January, 09 Negotiations between LTU pilots and employers begin, Vereinigung Cockpit union looking for a six percent in salary increase and regulate working hours.

2/24/08  Berlin's International airports on strike till 9:30 am. today effects most flights.70 flights in and out of Berlin’s two airports were canceled this morning. 65 arrivals and departures at Tegel Airport and six flights at Schoenefeld Airport were canceled or delayed. Passengers are trying to cancel or rebook their tickets

10/30/08  Air Berlin said the 120 DBA cockpit crew and 175 cabin crew would be offered a choice of buyouts or new contracts with the parent company.

European Union and Danish officials have named and shamed more online travel operators and airlines in an ongoing crackdown against misleading ads and rip-off consumer price schemes.

Helen Kearns, spokeswoman at the European Commission said Denmark's consumer ombudsman pointed to online ticket Web sites run by Ryanair, Air Berlin, Air Baltic, SkyEurope, Aer Lingus, Brussels Airlines and Seat24.

3, March, 10 Air Berlin threaten strike for three hours only. No date set.."Will be in the next coming days!"

In August 2007 Air Berlin took over LTU. LTU’s long-haul aircraft operate on routes to the Dominican Republic, the USA, Canada, the Maldives, Mallorca, etc. Latest news on Air Berlin/LTU such as staffing issues, pilots, go slow, layoffs, safety concerns, financial health, on time record  Will they strike or go bankrupt after I've bought my ticket and leave me stranded at the airport?  Ultimately do they look  reliable and still be in business in three months? Air Berlin employs more than 1,200 pilots, and fewer than half are represented by the union. 
6 September, 09 Air Berlin's subsidiary LTU from Dusseldorf flight attendants will strike Monday, 7 September, 09.  24 hours.  Expect flight cancellations.

8/31/09 Air Berlin 24 hour strike by some pilots today, five domestic flights cancelled and one long haul to to Egypt. Dispute was over pay and pilots were back to work the same night. Pilots looking for  11.7 percent raise, airline offering 3 percent. Air Berlin pilots earn less than those from LTU and have rejected an offer to partially make up the difference.
