German Airport Security Strike
This month alone, 18, 24 and 25 we've seen Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Bonn/Cologne airport strikes. Hundreds of flights have been cancelled. Expect this strike to spread, perhaps even to a nationwide German airport strike. If you have a lay over in any German airport get a German visa. That way if a wildcat strike happens and your flight is cancelled you can sleep in a hotel instead of a cot in international arrivals for the night. Press release by BDSW

Friday January 25 German airport security strike spills over to today. Likely to last all day. Between both airports yesterday and today some 80 flights cancelled.  24,000 passengers from Dusseldorf alone.
---
Thursday, January 24 Dusseldorf and Bonn/Cologne airport security strike again today. Call ahead if possible. Be prepared for flight to be cancelled or delayed. Will ripple around the network. Lufthansa expected to be hit hard, likely to last all day. Again.
---

18 January Airport security issue back in the news today.
Airport security workers never showed up for shifts today at Hamburg Airport. Only one of the 20 security isles working. Airport telling passengers to be prepared to miss flight or have it cancelled. A foot of snow has also caused cancellations across Germany adding to the mix. Security earn 11.80 euros ($15.73) and want a raise to 14.50 euros. Call airport before you leave the house.  Lufthansa flights hit especially bad, strike will last from 4am to 11pm. Ripples around the world network. See Hamburg Airport press release

German Airport Security Strike
10 December 2012 Wildcat strike at German airports today by airport security personnel. Hardest hit Cologne/Bonn and Baden Baden/Karlsruhe. Strike times will vary during the day. Figuring into this  are delays caused by bad weather. Munich 3 hour delays as with Prague and Vienna. Roads bad. Passengers given food voucher and hotel for the night. Some unlucky  passengers caught in international arrivals without a German visa get to sleep on a cot.
Security union BDSW next meeting January 15.
