11/28/09 Florida, Escambia County public transportation bus drivers have voted for a strike.  Will meet next week to decide on strike date. 

Bus drivers for Escambia County Area Transit voted to strike as early as next week.

Union members from local union Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1395 are in a labor dispute with Veolia Transportation, the private company that runs ECAT for the county. Last year bus drivers agreed to a zero percent pay raise, with the promice of a 4.5 percent pay raise in 2009.


ECAT runs one route in North Escambia, with six-day a week bus service to and from Pensacola, Cantonment, Molino and Century.

10/1/08 Florida, Votran service still rolling as talks continue.
