13, Nov. Bolton, Bury and Wigan union members have decided not to take the company offer ignoring union recommendations to take the deal.  No date set just yet for a day of action.Bolton, Bury and Wigan. That's it, its the end, strike over, kaput, life back to normal. Union has made a deal. You are safe, at least for 2 years nine months away when they have to re-negotiate again.  Although drivers still have to give the ok on Nov. 12.

29, September, 09 Manchester buses given some new strike dates, October 5, 12, 19 and 26. All Mondays.
Timetable for the 5th12th19th and 26th2, 9, 16, 23, November, 2009. Rossendale will be using double-decker buses on their service 461 between Rochdale and Bury on Monday, providing additional capacity and connections at Bury for onward travel by bus to Bolton.

19, September, 09 Be ready another 24 hour strike coming up this Monday, 4am. GMPTE warned that some 

services in Rochdale, Salford, Trafford and Stockport would also not run as a result of the dispute.  Parties involved will meet up today.

12, September,09 Passenger chaos yesterday. Stress on other trains and trams was noticeable.

11 September, 2009 Greater Manchester buses on strike, by First Group, 24 hours first of four, starting at 4am today. Hundreds of buses cancelled. Wigan, Bolton (150 buses) and Bury are worst affected. Followed by Trafford, Stockport, Salford and Rochdale. Not sure if Rochdale Unite union workers are to strike. 

Who:-800 First Group bus drivers, Unite union members. 95 per cent of members voted in favour of strike action. Engineers and cleaners are striking also. Organiser Bobby Morton from Unite threatens to take issue country wide.

Why:-Pay freeze, First Bus made record profits of £134 million last year. Zero percent pay raise, doesn't go down well with employees.

First Group Management disappointed, but will minimize disruption for passengers.  Management offered a two per cent pay increase for April, 2010, and guaranteed no compulsory redundancies for driving staff. Drivers salary £25,000 and get a package of benefits.

6-9 April, 2010, National Rail strike, will effect bus passengers. Demand for buses and trams will be up. Metrolink services between Altrincham and Timperley being suspended for the duration of the action, as this section of the track is operated and controlled by Network Rail.
