11/11/08 Chicago taxi fares will drop for the second time in two weeks, good for us. (Gas in my town today was $2.34 Vt.) Riders are required to pay an extra 50c a ride when gas price “equal or exceed” $2.70 a gallon for seven consecutive days and up to $1 whenever the price tops $3.20 a gallon for one week straight. Taxi strike in Chicago, please say no...Just incase you had any ideas. If you attack a cab driver while he is on duty, you will be charged with a felony! Cabbies income averages a $5.77 an hour, well below minimum wage, and the average shift is 12 hours and 20 minutes. Want to raise the stepping in rate from from $2.25 to $3.
