3 Dec 08, Auckland dock workers back at work last night after a 24hr strike. Union leaders say they now have a strong mandate to resume negotiations in their two year pay dispute. Meeting ended with hand shakes. Truckers work furiously to clear backlog. Trucks had to wait for up to 80 minutes to clear goods in the two days before the strike, unlikely to be any more industrial disruption before Christmas.
11/28/08 Port of Auckland offered port workers a new deal today. Same four percent pay rise in the first year, and four and a half percent in the second year. This time they are offering engineering staff extra benefits and guarantee 40 full time jobs. One ship has cancelled it's scheduled visit. Wiri Inland Port, General Wharves, on both the Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, and the marine services division will continue to operate
11/25/08 The Maritime Union of New Zealand and Ports of Auckland will meet again today for mediation talks but those involved in the negotiations hold out little hope that a deal will be reached.
11/17/08 New Zealand's largest port , Auckland, will strike,10.59pm on Tuesday 2 December and 3 December, Wednesday. 300 workers effecting the container terminal stevedoring, cargo loading, and road, rail, shuttle and engineering services. At present retailers are suffering, to add this to them is disastrous.
