5/15/09 Thousands of doctors and other hospital workers marched through Paris on Thursday to protest against a proposed cost-cutting drive that unions warn will turn health-care facilities into "business hospitals."

4/29/09  Paris, 50 percent of its medical staff went on strike Tuesday.  8,000 healthcare workers took to the street, protesting a new law that they believe will give too much power to hospital administrators.  The proposed law will give administrators authority to cancel programs that are not profitable, hence job loss.  Other cities protested.  Senate will vote on this May 11.
