5/15/09 Surgeries and services at hospitals across Newfoundland and Labrador are being cancelled as administrators prepare for a 5,000 nursing strike next week, possible start Wednesday. Hospitals will be emergency only. Bring extra meds. Full plans regarding services will be given Tuesday. Patients will be evacuated, over all a nasty situation for all parties.
22 March 2009, 750 employees have voted to strike for industrial action. Cleaning and food services at Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria General Hospital and Victoria-area extended care facilities, plus cleaning services at Cowichan District and Nanaimo Regional General hospitals. No date set yet.
