Angolan port strike
Lobito, Angolas largest port 700 kms (430 miles) south of the capital Luanda. 27 year civil war ended 2002. Angola once a major food exporter, now imports over half its food. One of the fastest growing economies in the world.
11/17/08 Angola, Lobito, striking Saturday 22 November, workers want pay raised from $240 to $800. Port activity up 70%. This will effect imports of construction materials and food products.
