6 March 08, The Dutch government raised the country's domestic terrorism alert level to "substantial" from "limited" last week. This is partly in response to an anti-Quran film to be released sometime this month. They cited a growing threat from foreign-based terrorists as a real concern and several arrests have been made. The film is critical of Islam. There have been political reactions and demonstrations over the film in several Muslim countries. The government is worried that there will be attacks in retaliation for airing the film and embassies are on alert.

A court in Groningen will on Tuesday hear summary proceedings against regional transport company Arriva and the transport unions intended to end a bus workers' strike. The proceedings were initiated by travellers' organisation Rovers and the province of Groningen supported by the provinces of Friesland and Drenthe.
The strike in regional transport has already lasted nine days. Informal talks between unions and employers on a one-year collective labour agreement scheduled to be held today have been cancelled. radionetherlands.nl
