6/19/09 The nurses' strike entered its 17th day on Sunday, with the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) saying the situation in many hospitals had become a "national disaster”. Nurses and some paramedics rejected a 15% pay rise from the government last week.
6/15/09 Zambia: Chingola Health Workers End Strike after an agreement for a 15 per cent pay rise by their national leaders. University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka healthcare workers continue with strike. No workers in clinics. Union would not defend anybody who would be disciplined for absconding from work.
5/27/09 Health workers at Kabwe General Hospital and Kabwe Mine Hospital have gone on strike demanding increased allowances. Workers looking for increases for uniform upkeep, housing allowance, commuted overtime allowance.

5/25/09 Nurses strike Zambia, and paramedic staff on strike at NDOLA, Central Hospital (NCH) patients being discharged because of the go slow which started last Wednesday by unionized workers. also affects Arthur Davison Children's Hospital (ADH) and clinics around the city.
The workers are demanding K1.5 million salary increment and K800,000 to be added to their housing allowance. Union meeting this Tuesday to discuss further industrial action. Students and senior staff helping.
