4 June, 09 Service as usual today. Ferry owner plans to operate ferry as normal today even though four workers are on strike. Operating ferry will be the owner Ciaran o'Driscoll his wife and son.
26/5/09 Cork ferry, Cape Clear Island in west Cork are to strike on 4 June 2009 from 8:30am. Strike action will end 7pm.
Staff on the Naomh Ciaran II, strike action because of pay cuts for Crew. Protesting salary cuts from 22 per cent for deckhands to 27 per cent for the ship’s master.
Rival ferry leaves five minutes earlier and the skipper is of a Naomh Ciarán II crew member!
