Iberia Express Spanish low cost airline
Iberia Express a subsidiary of Iberia Airlines will start service 25 March 2012. Received 2,000 applications from pilots. Will fly short and medium long haul flights. Seating business class and economy will operate out of Madrid. Competition to Ryanair, EasyJet and high speed rail. Iberia Airlines is in the works to buy BMI.
Routes not announced yet, but expect them in Canary Islands and to anywhere where Ryan and EasyJet fly to. Will probably stay away from expensive airports like Heathrow, CDG (?) Frankfurt. Opting perhaps for Gatwick, Stansted, Linate, Berlin, airports.
