Latest news on taxi strike
-Next meeting of taxi owners for further acts on Monday in Athens with delegates from all over the country.
-Their strategy for Fri-Sun is to organize spontaneous events without prior notice for deeper effects, but for shorter times, "occupate" toll posts and allow to cars passing free of charge, park the taxis along the national roads from Athens to Peloponnese and Thessaloniki
-should not be greater problems with ports and airports which are blocked, but still people has to walk a distance out of the area to catch tourist busses - exception Heraklion port in Crete, where they are tougher - the reaction is so big, that I think they will not have all the people against. The free passing through toll posts as well the "occupation" of the entrance of some archeological sites in Peloponnese and free entrance of the tourists are... steps to calm the reaction and have social support from the people.
-we have managed to organise transfers for our clients in all cases- drivers are asking for more money as it is risky, sometimes the double. They risk to be "punished " at airport /port by the taxi owners blocking there. All professionals are trying to help tourists overpass troubles.
-prosecutors are examining the personal responsibilities of strikers in some cases and , if such, they will proceed in legal sanctions.
On ferries
Today is planned the meeting of the coastal marine workers federation, to decide if strike will be declared for the last week of July.
