Update:-23 November 2011 Meetings have failed. Strike scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 8 am to 4 pm. Unions have informed the general public that the strike is endless and they will strike everyday between 8 am and 4 pm.

11/11/11 BDZ workers have called an indefinite rail strike starting 24 November 2011, This will effect all trains in Bulgaria. Complete standstill. Trains From/to Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey and Greece will get affected.

Update:-March 2011, Bulgarian warning rail strike to start at 10am-11am today. From then on workers will strike daily 8am-4pm till demands are met. Update railway agreed not to layoff employees. Strike cancelled.
Update:-9 March Bulgarian rail strike is still on. Minister of transport still hopes for an agreement.

15 December, 2010 Loan from World Bank, Bulgarian State Railway (BDZ) gets 460 million leva and National Railroad Infrastructure Company (NRIC) will get 140 million leva. Rail union threatens unlimited strike in new year. Workers worried about the 8000 redundancies coming.
Sept. 13 Greek trains (OSE) on strike again tomorrow for 24 hours. Will also effect international trains from Romania, Bulgaria. Bucharest via Sofia heading for Thessaloniki will only go as far as Sofia and returning to Bucharest from Sofia train station instead of Thessaloniki. BDZ will help out by supplying a train for passengers from Sofia till the border town of Kulata. Two trains between Sofia and Thessaloniki will be cancelled and customers reimbursed. Truckers are also on strike causing a petrol shortage.
10, March, Wednesday, The Bulgarian State Railroad company, BDZ, inform travelers. Wednesday The international express train between Bucharest and Thessaloníki via Sofia will travel only to Sofia and will leave Thursday morning for Bucharest. Thursday, the two morning and the two afternoon trains between Sofia and Thessaloníki are canceled. You will be reimbursed.
1/11/10 Strike by Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) workers have called off in Sofia. BDZ announced they have received this months subsidies and can now pay 60 workers salaries.
16, October, 2009 On Monday Bulgaria's railroad workers will announce a strike. A syndicate of trade unions met today.
The United Strike Committee of the Bulgarian railway employees asking state owned railway to agree to their demands. Paid on time, guaranteed their salaries, receiving all the social benefits they are entitled to, i.e. clothing, food allowances and putting an end to the planned layoffs in the two state-owned railway companies BDZ (Bulgarian State Railways) and NKZI (National Company Railway Infrastructure). Unions also reject the idea of closing 10 railway stations in the poorer regions
Bulgaria’s Transport Ministry has recently announced that the state-owned railways face a deficit of BGN 490 M, blaming this on the former government. They have also proceeded with a plan to lay off 700 workers in October 2009, and 1 300 more in January 2010 novinite.com

13, October 09, Protest today by hundreds of rail workers outside PKP Railways. Workers demonstrating about loss of jobs.
On September 27, over 300 rail workers gathered at a rally in the central town of Gorna Oriahovitsa, one of Bulgaria’s key railroad stations. The protesting workers issued a declaration demanding the annulment of the proposed “anti-crisis measures,” including staff reductions and closure of railroads.
