Shannon Airport separated from Dublin Airport Authority in 2013. Why not use Shannon Airport for Transatlantic flights instead of Dublin Airport. You can fly to Chicago O'Hare, Philadelphia, New York City, Newark.

Thursday 3 November 2016 Strike is still on for tomorrow. We know Dublin and Cork will be operating as normal.  Shannon it's still questionable. Perhaps your flight to and from Shannon will be diverted, instead of cancelled.

Monday 24 October 2016 Every Friday in November Shannon Airport will likely close due to Garda strike.
Perhaps you need to know Shannon Airport having to deal with a financial hit due to Aer Lingus random canceling of flights to and from New York and Boston.

27 May 2014 Another strike by cabin crew is being planned. No date set just yet. So far 18,000 passengers have changed booking for Friday

Wednesday, 7 May 2014 More trouble for Aer Lingus.
This time it's 1,100 or so cabin crew workers who belong to IMPACT union. Shannon, Cork and Shannon airports will be effected. Workers are being balloted and results will be in the end of this week

13th March, 2014 Are you flying next week-end with Aer Lingus? Call them. Siptu union strikes back with air strike next week-end.
Aer Lingus strike Friday, March 21st and Monday March 24th. 6 hour stretches. News to be released.

Wednesday, 12 March 2014 Shannon airport wil be open for business. Irish judges decided strike was illegal. Call your airline to confirm, you are good to go.

Tuesday 11th March Talks still on going.

Monday 10th March Still waiting judges ruling. Meeting took/taking place today. In the mean time. Aer Lingus Transatlantic flights will leave perhaps a little earlier or later than usual. Short hauls have been cancelled. Aer Lingus alone has rescheduled 3,000 trips.
Even if courts deem strike illegal, it will come too late for airline to re-book passengers. Then you have the knock on effect. More strikes are likely to come. P.S Perhaps you need to know French air traffic controllers will strike March 18th. 

Friday, 7th March Lawyers for Ryanair and Dublin Airport Authority trying to get the strike deemed illegal.

3 March 2014 Aer Lingus will offer re-bookings tomorrow.

Thursday, 27th February 2014 Union announced today strike action to take place at Shannon Airport, Dublin and Cork Airport. Along with national air carrier Aer Lingus. Friday, 14th March 2014 from 5am to 9am, expect more strikes to come. Here's what Siptu had to say.

20 February 2014 Update for Shannon Airport Aerospace engineers. Strike postponed for talks next week. 


17 February 2014 First workers to hand in strike date. Shannon air craft mechanics given strike notice:-
4 hour strike to take place Tuesday, March 4th and a ban on all future overtime.

11 February 2014 Ballot results out today.
Siptu Union votes for strike action.
Shannon airport mechanics have already voted for strike action. Perfect storm is brewing. Perhaps change your flight to leave from Northern Ireland - Belfast International or George Best City Airport. - Ferry even!

18 January 2014 Aer Lingus flights that were due to start January 26th from Shannon Airport to Boston, USA have been put on hold till February, 4th. Passengers will now fly from Dubliln Airport, transportation from Shannon Airport will be provided from Aer Lingus.

16 January 2014 Issue back in the news today. Siptu union members who work for Are Lingus, Dublin, Shannon and Cork Airports are being balloted for strike action. Regardless of legal action threat by management. No strike date set yet.

June 20 2013, Some information you should perhaps be aware about.
1. General strike in Portugal, so Faro Airport route could be delayed, canceled, brought up or worse!. 

2. Aer Lingus pilots are threatening strike action.

3. Keep an eye on Germany as Air Berlin pilots threat strike action also. I hear you now, but Air Berlin doesn't go to this airport.  This strike will ripple around the network Aer Lingus and even flights to Salzburg will become sort after, so confirm your flight.

14 November 2012 All parties met this morning and strike threat has been called off.  So Monday's flights will be flying.

30 October Announced today Aer Lingus workers will cause your flight to be delayed or cancelled.
When?  Monday 19 November 2012 only for two hours, 10am to noon, but it's enough to cause all kinds of chaos to be played out.  No update here? Then try our Aer Lingus strike page.

12 October 2012 Airport workers maybe on the verge of a deal. On the other hand, Aer Lingus employees have meeting scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of next week. Strike highly possible.

27 September 2012 Strike planned for Monday, 1 October has been cancelled for talks. Issues still not resolved.

14 September Strike is set for Monday 
1 October 2012 union workers from Aer Lingus and Dublin Airport Authority will have a rolling two hour strike, go slow. Each employee to strike for two hours. This could stretch out all day. All Irish airports will be struck Dublin, Shannon and Cork. Security, ramp workers, desk agents. Get to airport early, call them perhaps they've changed your travel plans. Flights that codeshare with Aerlingus and long-hauls that refuel in Irish airports will be effected.


17 August 2012 Update:- Irish Trade Union Siptu threatening strike by Thursday 20 September 2012 issues over pension funds.

31 July 2012 Workers at Aer Lingus and airport workers from Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports have voted for strike action over pension funds. No dates set. Some 4,500 Irish workers voted over an issue regarding pensions schemes. Rather nerve racking.
