With these improvements Gulf Air hopes to turn airline around by 2012.

Looking to cut $3 billion and plans to become a sustainable business by 2012 and privatize. 10/15/09 Increase in baggage allowance to all fares. Economy goes from 20kg to 30kg, one of the highest in the world. Same for first class to 50kg and business 40kg. Gulf Air’s frequent flyer program will have their allowance increased by 20kg, and silver members will receive a generous 15kg increase.
This week Gulf Air received a brand spanking new A320 one of several to come.
8/8/09 Gulf Air denies they will lay off 272 employees this year and union workers may call a strike over this. Previous shareholders Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Oman gave up their stakes in the ailing carrier.Three chief executives have attempted to turn the company around since 2002.
